What's the difference between GOLD and GOLD FILLED?
What is permanent jewerly?
Permanent Jewelry is a custom fit jewelry without a clasp, welded together so it stays on until you're ready to remove it. Nothing hurts or breaks the skin in any way.
Every piece is completely customized to you with a custom fit for comfortable daily wear, aka, no more dangly chains! You almost forget that they are there because there is no excess chain tickling and rubbing on your skin.
So what happens if you want (or need) to take it off?
You can simply cut the chain at the jump ring with small scissors or wire cutters and save it to be welded back at a later date. If you are more comfortable coming in, we can always remove it for you.
Will it tarnish?
Trendy jewelry at clothing stores are gold plated and will tarnish quickly. Gold plated means there is a VERY thin layer of gold over a copper or brass base, both of which tarnish easily or turn your skin green.
All metals for the Permanent Jewelry we offer are gold filled or 14k gold, sterling serliver or white gold - meaning they will not tarnish.
Sterling silver can temporarily tarnish under certain conditions. A silver cleaning wipe should take the tarnish right off. Toothpaste or baking soda applied with a toothbrush can also work.
How long will it last?
You can expect about 5 years with proper care.
What if my jewelry breaks?
Breaks are handled in a case by case basis. Breaks that happen at the point of the weld, we will repair and relink at no extra cost.
Breaks that happen on the chain itself will be charged a repair or replace fee.
Your new jewelry is durable, buts its not indestructible.
What is the proper way to care for my links?
Dawn dish soap and a soft toothbrush will do the trick for most metals.
